About Custom Plastics, LLC
Custom Plastics, LLC was established in 2007. As a Plastic Injection Molding company tracing its’ roots back to Columbia Fishing Tackle and the Freeman company, founded by Ed Freeman in 1954.
Injection molding operations began in 2000 when our parent company purchased the first injection machines and started molding packaging, specifically plastic boxes for the retail packaging of our Columbia brand fishing tackle. Prior to this, the company owned several injection molds and had been outsourcing the molding for decades before bringing this capability
in-house.
This division was then spun-off and purchased by Tom Freeman, Jr., the grandson of the founder of the parent company, Freeman Wholesale, and has operated independently since 2007.
Today, we operate four injection molding machines and still
serve our original customer of over 20 years, Comal Fishing Tackle. Our
machines range from 200-ton to 350-ton injection machines, allowing us to
produce a wide array of products from small to mid-size.
Three of these machines, recently purchased new and put into
operation during the last five years, have given our small manufacturing
company the latest in molding performance, quality, and efficiency. Positioning us to enter a growth phase and seek new customers as we expand our manufacturing capacity to produce quality, Made in USA products right here in Columbia, Alabama.
While many others shifted operations overseas, our business proudly remained Made in America!

Our Machines
We have (2) 200 ton Haitai injection Molding machines, (1) 280-ton Hatai injection molding machine and (1) 350-ton Sumitomo injection molding machine.
These machines are capable of producing parts ranging from 1 gram to over 1lb and in various cavitations depending on the size of the parts. We run molds that produce 1 part to 128 parts per shot.
All our machines have state of the are computer process controls as well as servo motor technology for maximum energy efficiency and cost saving aspects.
We have experience producing parts made from a variety of different resins including PP, PS, HIPS, PE, LDPE, LLDPE, HDPE, ABS, PC, TPU, Nylon
Our Team
Tom Freeman, Jr. as founder and president Tom has been with
Custom Plastics since the beginning and served as director of sales and
marketing for parent company Columbia packaging and marketing.
Jennie Freeman is our office manager and has also been with the company since it was founded in 2007.
Matthew Freeman is our molding operations manager. He began
working part time for the company in high school later returning to full-time
employment after college. Matt has gained an enormous amount of injection molding and processing experience with his 10 year plus history.
